Vanessa from Soul Love Dance here with a very vulnerable share. If we’re friends on Facebook, you may already have seen the video below (If we’re not FB friends, I’d love to be, please send me a request here.)
I filmed this video on FB live yesterday, completely unscripted and not sure exactly what I was going to say, but knowing that I had to say something given all that’s been happening lately. As soon as the live broadcast was done, I hid it from my page. I wasn’t ready for the world to know this about me. Then I watched the video, and I decided to muster the courage to share.
I’m really glad I did because the response has been amazing and some other women were even inspired to share some of their own stories in this way. I think healing starts with acknowledgment and also knowing we’re not alone in our pain. I knew that even if one person benefits from this, it was worth it.
I also want to acknowledge how hugely helpful Bellydance has been in my healing journey. It has helped me reconnect to my own body, to truly feel and express myself as a sensual woman and empowered me to show myself to the world authentically regardless of the judgments that may come my way as a result. I could go on and on about all of the ways learning how to belly dance has transformed my life, but I’ll stop here for now.

Love and Light,
P.S. If you want to explore bellydance and how it can help you heal, I’m available for private one-to-one lessons online via skype (email me to set up a session) and Soul Love Dance has an entire library of videos that teach bellydance. You can find out more about that here.
